The Degree is offered by the University of Bucharest in partnership with the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy. By studying cultural diplomacy in tandem with globalization, students will gain a deep comprehension of this innovative, emerging academic field, which is gradually taking on a greater level of importance and relevance in the contemporary global arena.

Program Curriculum
The MA program follows the conventional university structure of a two-year course divided into four different semesters. Students are offered an array of optional courses to accompany mandatory courses, work experience opportunities and the final thesis. During the first year the first semester will consist of three mandatory modules and two optional as the second semester will consist of the professional development program and 2 elective courses, whilst in the second year students will  continue to the University of Bucharest in Romania for the 3rd Semester and the 4th Semester- the Thesis. Part of the 4th Semester could be completed from distance as well, as the students will produce a final thesis on a related topic of choice. At the end of the forth semesters, the students will be then required to defend their Thesis at the University of Bucharest in Romania.

Access to an expert faculty with vast experience in international politics, diplomacy and economics, allowing students to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to work in a complex global environment.
The opportunity to obtain expertise in Cultural Diplomacy, a rapidly emerging and increasingly important field within the public sector, private sector and civil society.
An exclusive and specific program that will provide significant advantages to students in the political arena compared to students who obtain a broader MA in International Relations.
During the “Professional Development” semester of the MA, students will be able to create and implement their own programs of Cultural Diplomacy and experience how the knowledge they have gained can be effectively applied in the professional world. This also provides the relevant professional experience and contacts that can assist students in preparing for their future careers.
Access to all ICD events and programs around the world, providing students with access to prominent experts in the field including various Heads of State, Ministers, and CEOs.
The high quality of the curriculum and faculty provided by the Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies will provide appropriate preparation for students’ evolving careers in academia as well as in the international, public and private sectors.
All MA students are invited to support and participate in ICD conferences and events throughout the course of their studies. This provides experience and contacts that will prove quite valuable in the professional development of the students.


Accreditation
The Master’s Degree is awarded by the University of Bucharest, which is recognized as a fully accredited institution of higher education with the right to award university degrees. The University of Bucharest is part of the Bologna Process set in place by the European Commission, and uses the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) to award degrees. Credits obtained through our MA program are equivalent to those of courses at universities in all other 30+ signatory countries. The amount of credits needed in order to obtain a Master’s Degree range from 90-120. Students will earn 30 credits per semester during our MA program, for a total of 120 credits upon completion.


Scholarship
Scholarships, equaling up to 10% deduction of tuition costs are available for students based on educational excellence and/ or financial need. Although each scholarship request will be evaluated on an individual basis, students are expected to have an above-average grade point of 4.5 (of 5.0) in order to qualify for a grant. The Financial Aid application is a two-step process; Students interested in applying for a scholarship are required to submit their initial aid application request as soon as they have formally applied to the program, completed the first step of the application, and have been accepted into the program. Scholarships are then determined for the second and 4th semesters.

Dates & Deadlines
Fall Semester
Program Start: October 2nd, 2013
The deadline for late admissions is July 25th, 2013. Students who have submitted their applications in full by July 25th, 2013 will be eligible for an interview. Applicants will be notified of the admission committee's decision within a period of 7 days following the interview.

* Current undergraduate students (who are due to graduate in the summer of 2013) are able to submit an application and participate in the pre-enrollment process, by submitting a confirmation of their current studies and their transcripts.

Program Cost
The required tuition fee for the MA in Globalization and Cultural Diplomacy is €12,000 for the full program (€3,000 per semester).

Operating under a joint partnership, Babes-Bolyai University and the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy are the first institutions to offer a Master of Arts degree program that will educate students from around the world in several academic disciplines related to International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy.

Bonjour. Je suis la reine des belges. Je n'ai pas de portable. Enfin je veux dire pas de téléphone portable. Des ordinateurs portables oui. J'ai aussi un modèle de télégraphe portable, avec des bras de sémaphores de 7,65 cm, pour communiquer silencieusement avec des correspondants qui ont une bonne vue on en place un tous les X mêtres (jusqu'à 20 m en ligne droite, sinon un à chaque tournant ou pour contourner les obstacles, tumulus, tabernacles, fours à micro-ondes, pierres tombales ) et on peut ainsi communiquer dans les lieux publics où le silence est requis sans déranger personne ou au contraire même quand il y a un boucan terrible (stades, usines, supermarchés, salles de vente, boucheries, eros-center).

Le dépliant commercial plutôt convaincant annonçait que lors des expériences de mise au point, les ingénieurs ont réussi à former une chaine tout le long du mur de la prison de la Santé enfin je veux dire à l'extérieur, et ainsi en faisant le tour du bâtiment à revenir au point de départ mais ça c'est juste pour le contrôle sur la déformation du message à l'époque des essais. Ensuite de quoi le Préfet de Police aurait mis fin à l'expérience mais trop tard, le procédé était validé. Le message transmis (sans déformation aucune) était le premier couplet de la fameuse chanson "la main de ma soeur sur le portable du zouave".

Ensuite pour les applications réelles qui ont été plutôt rares, j'ai notamment eu connaissance d'une chaine de 12 ou 15 personnes d'un bout à l'autre d'un amphi de médecine sans troubler le cours de proctologie. Mais je connais pas le nom du réseau.
En ce qui me concerne : pendant la bar-mitzvah de mon petit-fils j'ai réussi grace à 3 relais seulement dans la synagogue à lui envoyer un message pour lui dire qu'il serait bienséant qu'il parvienne à refermer (discrètement) sa braguette.

Program Curriculum

The program curriculum consists of a total of 6 semesters. The first semester of the program takes place in Berlin at the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy and the remaining 5 semesters take place in Bucharest at the University of Bucharest. This undergraduate degree provides students with a comprehensive interdisciplinary education and, in particular, prepares students for careers in the field of politics and international relations. This BA degree qualifies students for all careers which a BA in political science would qualify them for and, in addition, students obtain the unique skillset of cultural diplomacy, which greatly strengthens the student's educational experience as well as their professional portfolio.

In the framework of the interdisciplinary studies, a special emphasis is given to cultural diplomacy and its contemporary application in the public sector, private sector and civil society. Parallel to the studies, students participate in the professional development program of the ICD in order to gain professional experience, relationships and contacts, and to develop their careers simultaneously to the BA.
The program is designed to provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary background in Political Science, International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy, using a historical and case study approach. The program addresses contemporary political science and international issues, with classroom seminars supplemented by lectures at the university as well as: briefings and visits to at international and non-governmental organizations, educational events, conferences, tours, and meetings with foreign officials, which are further incorporated into the curriculum.

Students will meet with leading experts working in international organizations, governments, embassies, and academic institutions, and will engage with specialists in the areas of Philosophy, Politics, International Relations, Human Rights, Culture, Peace Building, Multilateral Diplomacy, Conflict Resolution, Development, and Economics.

The program provides students with a theoretical and practical experience for both academic and professional development. It allows students to create a solid professional network and form a concrete foundation for future academic and professional career choices. On a practical level, the program prepares students for engagement in the international arena, civil society, politics, governmental organizations and international economic organizations.

The general structure of the program is available below:

Semester 1 (30 Credits)
(Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies; Berlin, Germany)

The first semester in Berlin begins with a Preliminary Studies and Orientation component to prepare students for their academic graduate program. The priority of the curriculum for the first semester is to provide students with a solid foundation and understanding of the history of Cultural Diplomacy, the contemporary practice of Cultural Diplomacy and the future applications of Cultural Diplomacy.

Mandatory Courses for Semester One are:
• The History and Evolution of the Field of Cultural Diplomacy
• International Case Studies of Cultural Diplomacy
• Future Trends in International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy
• Elective Courses for Semester One (two of which each student must select), include:
• Nation Branding and Unilateral Cultural Diplomacy
• Contemporary German Foreign Policy
• International Organizations
• European Politics
• Professional Development
• (Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies; Berlin, Germany)

During the first semester and parallel to the four semesters of studies, students will undertake a professional development and training program at the Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies, through which each student will be able to apply in practice what they learned in theory in the first semester. The professional development will provide students with valuable professional experience and contacts in the fields that they plan to work in after the MA and can greatly improve students' chances of acquiring their preferred career.

Semester 2 (30 Credits)

During Semester two, students will begin their coursework in the BA and take the courses listed below:

Scholarship

Scholarships, equaling up to 10% deduction of tuition costs are available for students based on educational excellence and/ or financial need. Although each scholarship request will be evaluated on an individual basis, students are expected to have an above-average grade point of 4.5 (of 5.0) in order to qualify for a grant. The Financial Aid application is a two-step process; Students interested in applying for a scholarship are required to submit their initial aid application request as soon as they have formally applied to the program, completed the first step of the application, and have been accepted into the program. Scholarships are then determined for the second and 4th semesters.

Next Program for 2014
The next programs for 2014 will take place in the following locations and dates:
• The first semester will take place in Berlin between the dates of June 2nd - July 31st, 2014
• The second semester will take place in Bucharest between the dates of October 01st, 2014 - December 19th, 2014

The deadline for admissions is April 15th, 2014. Students who have submitted their applications in full by April 15th, 2014 will be eligible for an interview. Applicants will be notified of the admission committee's decision within a period of 7 days following the interview.

Program Curriculum

The program consists of 120 ECTS credits in total and has a duration of four semesters, which take place in both Berlin, Germany and Cluj, Romania. The first two semesters of the program are hosted by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin and the third and the forth semesters are hosted by the Babes-Bolyai University.

The degree focuses on several academic disciplines related to International Relations, International Economics, and Global Politics, with a particular emphasis on Cultural Diplomacy and its historical and contemporary application in the public sector, private sector and civil society. The degree prepares students for careers in diverse fields, such as the field of international relations, the humanities, politics, and culture, with a special focus on cultural diplomacy institutions and the application of Cultural Diplomacy in the framework of foreign policy and international economics.

Accreditation

The Master’s Degree is awarded by Babeş-Bolyai University, which is recognized as a fully accredited institution of higher education with the right to award university degrees. Babeş-Bolyai University is part of the Bologna Process set in place by the European Commission, and uses the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) to award degrees. Credits obtained through our MA program are equivalent to those of courses at universities in all other 30+ signatory countries. Students will earn 30 credits per semester during our MA program, for a total of 120 credits upon completion.
